Alvaro Alfredo Arias was a Founding Partner of ARIAS, ALEMAN & MORA whose vision, integrity, and technical excellence left a lasting imprint on the firm and on Panama’s legal and financial community.

Founder

His legacy continues to shape the firm’s corporate, securities, and private wealth practice. A graduate of Georgetown University, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1979 and his Juris Doctor in 1982. His academic formation in the United States, combined with his deep understanding of Panama’s legal and financial systems, positioned him as one of the country’s most respected practitioners in securities regulation and sophisticated estate and tax planning structures.

Mr. Arias was widely recognized for advising financial institutions, family groups, and corporate clients on complex securities matters, cross-border transactions, private wealth structuring, trusts, and high-level corporate governance. His work contributed significantly to the development of modern securities and private wealth practices in Panama.

In addition to his distinguished legal career, he served as Director of EMPRESA GENERAL DE INVERSIONES, S.A. and Director of BANCO GENERAL, S.A., where he provided strategic oversight and governance leadership at the highest corporate levels.

He was admitted to practice before the District of Columbia Court of Appeals in 1983 and in Panama in 1985, reflecting his international professional standing.
