With over four decades of professional practice across Central America, he has advised financial institutions, maritime operators, and corporate clients on complex legal and regulatory matters.

He obtained his Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Costa Rica in 1980 and subsequently earned a Master in Admiralty Law from Tulane University of Louisiana in 1981.

His specialized training in maritime law has positioned him as a trusted advisor in shipping, admiralty claims, vessel financing, and maritime commercial transactions, particularly within Panama’s strategic maritime jurisdiction.

Mr. Arias García de Paredes is admitted to practice law in Costa Rica (1980) and Panama (1985), giving him a valuable regional perspective on cross-border transactions and regulatory frameworks.

Throughout his career, he has combined private practice with significant leadership roles in the financial and corporate sectors. He has served as Director of BANCO PANAMEÑO DE LA VIVIENDA, S.A., and currently serves as Chairman of GRUPO MUNDIAL TENEDORA, S.A., contributing strategic oversight and governance expertise at the board level.

His core practice areas include Banking Law, Maritime Law, Commercial Law, and Contracts. He is recognized for his pragmatic approach, technical depth, and ability to navigate complex financial and maritime structures within Panama’s legal framework.
